Proposals with the most votes:

Reasons for the decision:
Suggestion meets the criteria.

Description of the proposal:
There are several disc golf areas in Porvoo and one of them is in Hornhattula. The Hornhattula area is excellent because it is arable land and the visibility of each basket is quite good. It also provides an adequate challenge. Practising with children is also possible and the good visibility provides safety. The area is visited by amateurs throughout the year, and a few years ago, the City fixed the tee pads. Now the area would benefit from work to put the baskets straight and pulled back up from the depths of the clay fields. In addition to this, the environment of the baskets could be improved (with wood chips etc.) so that, even after rain, discs can be thrown around the baskets without having to step in big puddles.

Reasons for the decision:
A wood storage facility will be built at the Humla lean-to-shelter.

Description of the proposal:
I propose that a small woodshed be built next to the great lean-to-shelter and toilet we already have by Humlaleden. Bringing wood from home is tough and tiresome, given it’s a long way for everyone, and it’s just as tiresome to fetch wood from the wood storage at the Humlastugan recreational cabin. The lean-to-shelter is, of course, great, but it is rare that I see visitors there, perhaps in part due to the lack of wood. Children with families would benefit from this in particular, as would others, who might like to brew themselves a coffee and grill a sausage!

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. A free event held 11 times once per week during the summer season.

Description of the proposal:
Morning exercise 8–9 a.m. on the west bank in the beach park at the Art Factory on summer weekdays.

Reasons for the decision:
Feasible, e.g. as part of another event or as a separate event.

Description of the proposal:
A picnic with baskets, and musical or romantic films suitable for all age groups outside on an August evening, for example, in the Kokonniemi skiing area. There are various elevations from even ground to hills, so everyone can come. Whether you use a walker or a wheelchair or arrive by bicycle or on foot, take a chair or blanket and come and enjoy a warm outdoor film. Only a big projector screen must be booked to watch the film. Popular outdoor film sessions are already held in many cities, such as Loviisa and Vantaa, so why not Porvoo as well.

Reasons for the decision:
Advances into a service after this year's pilot. Accessible spaces.

Description of the proposal:
A club with guided activities in visual arts in accessible spaces for children with special needs. Five to six club meetings. For children aged 5 to 15.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. Virtual water aerobics services ordered for the public swimming pool.

Description of the proposal:
Hi, many public swimming pools and spas currently have water aerobics videos available as a self-service provision. These are suitable for those of us who, for one reason or another, are unable to access guided water aerobics groups but would like have some guidance. One device manufacturer is, for example, https://hydrohex.com/fi/, who provide both the equipment and the videos.

Reasons for the decision:
Feasible within the given timetable and cost estimate.

Description of the proposal:
The Baltic Sea Day of the John Nurminen Foundation is held on the last Thursday of August, the 29th. The objective of the Baltic Sea Day is to inspire people to enjoy the unique sea at our coastline and take and make tangible action and promises to protect it. The event will be organised by the Hamari sailors and Hamarikupla. In addition to this, several other local maritime actors have expressed their willingness to participate in the Baltic Sea Day this year. The location would be the former navigation field in the beach park at the Art Factory, between the August Eklöf park walkway bridge and the Aleksanterinkatu bridge.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. All changing rooms to be equipped.

Description of the proposal:
Hello It is unbelievable that there is no hair dryer in the changing rooms of the public swimming pool, but you have a swimsuit water extractor, it makes no sense! All the other pools have at least some kind of a hair dryer.

Reasons for the decision:
A good idea – can be arranged, especially as a family group.

Description of the proposal:
Children typically like to play instruments. It is easy to get a pleasing sound out of a drum. For children aged 7 to 15. Five to six club meetings. It is nice to get together to do nice things. There are not many activities for the target group; this would be a welcome addition to the everyday life of children with developmental disabilities.

Reasons for the decision:
Three different ideas propose a traditional bulletin board in the city centre. The idea meets all the criteria and can be realised as a weather-resistant notice board in the market area.

Description of the proposal:
Three different ideas propose a traditional bulletin board in the city centre. The idea meets all the criteria and can be realised as a weather-resistant notice board in the market area.

Reasons for the decision:
In the surveys over the remainder of the year, the City's divisions will draw lots for tickets to the J.L. Runeberg Home Museum and passes for the public swimming pool to a total of EUR 1,000. The City cannot issue sports vouchers as they are considered an employee benefit.

Description of the proposal:
Many surveys are conducted for the city’s residents both online and via the Compass service. The residents are very active, but they could also be rewarded for their activity. In the surveys over the remainder of the year, the City's divisions draw lots for tickets to the J.L. Runeberg Home Museum and passes for the public swimming pool, to a total value of EUR 1,000.

Reasons for the decision:
The City’s Sports Services division will procure four concrete, wood-cladded benches

Description of the proposal:
The Joonaanmäki park area in Porvoo links several districts and provides a fitness trail for many seniors and families with children. In summer time, in particular, it would be nice to have simple benches on the route to rest for a while. There is a bench in the area, a stone bench that you cannot actually sit on unless you happen to take a cushion with you. New wooden benches would provide the chance to sit and talk on the phone or to a friend on a summer day in a natural environment. Nature can be enjoyed in many ways, not just by running on a track.

Reasons for the decision:
Feasible within the given timetable and cost estimate.

Description of the proposal:
We propose that a western house martin hotel be built in the Ruskis nature reserve, next to the Pohjoisniitty carpark. The hotel would have a large amount of nests covered by a roof and be located at the top of a pole. The hotel would offer something fun and interesting to look at for both adults and children. At the same time, the endangered martins would be given an important and safe nest, which they currently lack.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. Can be held 15 times a week in the autumn.

Description of the proposal:
All exercise classes were fully booked in 15 minutes in December. I did not get in to any of the classes. I wish there was an exercise class in the spirit of park exercise every Wednesday some time between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. or on Sunday or Saturday afternoon at 4:30–5:30 p.m. with a cardio section and a whole-body muscle fitness portion either throughout the year except the summer or only in December. This year, there were free exercise classes that were mainly suitable for seniors. It may be that if the classes had a registration fee when held indoors, it could be possible to make money to maintain the sports facilities. Another option would be to arrange more exercise classes available with the 10-time ticket in some other way. I have no idea how.

Reasons for the decision:
Can be implemented in a modified manner by organising an instructional skating event

Description of the proposal:
Open, walk in-style skating schools for children and parents. The skating class would be given to children and parents together and the instructor would guide parents on how to teach their children to skate.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. Swimsuit water extractors ordered for an additional two dressing rooms.

Description of the proposal:
Swimsuit drying equipment also for the upstairs dressing rooms.

Reasons for the decision:
Suggestion meets the criteria.

Description of the proposal:
I propose that sand toys and storage boxes be purchased for the playgrounds of Porvoo. This would make it easier to enjoy the outdoors with children, increase equality, make spontaneous visits to playgrounds easier and help small children enjoy playgrounds longer if the toys were readily available in the parks. Sand toys and storage boxes will be acquired for ten key playgrounds.

Reasons for the decision:
Electrically-assisted bicycles for transporting persons with reduced mobility. This instrument supports equal inclusion and provides an opportunity for a wide range of sensory experiences of the surrounding nature. It would bring joy to many families and facilitate cycling trips together and increases the sense of inclusion. The potential target group could be all persons with limited mobility who, due to their size, can no longer travel in children's seats and cannot pedal a bicycle independently. The bicycle could be useful to many families with members with reduced mobility and people living in assisted housing, the elderly and people with disabilities.

Reasons for the decision:
A reasonable proposal. Recommended to be voted on and established as a service.

Description of the proposal:
I would like a guided child/parent art/painting course in which the child and parent get to paint together. The course could be either short with two hours of painting or a weekend course or a maximum of once per week for a month (a total of four classes).

Reasons for the decision:
Ten park exercise classes held in the summer in the park area.

Description of the proposal:
The aim is to get the residents of Gammelbacka outdoors to move together in park exercise classes or dancing on their own. This increases the well-being of the residents, involves people and helps them get to know each other. The target group, regardless of their physical condition, is all residents as well as visitors from other parts of Porvoo. Held both indoors and outdoors.

Reasons for the decision:
Can be arranged as a modular solution at the Hamari ice rink. Synthetic plastic ice and a net around the rink.

Description of the proposal:
Ice hockey is on a break for the summer, but a small artificial ice rink where you could practise shooting would be great to have! For example, a smooth platform suitable for roller skates would be ideal.

Reasons for the decision:
An excellent idea that supports the feeling of inclusion of every child. Can be implemented in the yard of five daycare centres in this way.

Description of the proposal:
"A communication board is a means of participation and increasing interaction for all children but, above all, it benefits children who may have more extensive developmental delays, linguistic delays or language disorders and children who speak a language other than Finnish or Swedish as their native language. The board enables communication with those for whom it is challenging for one reason or another. It is extremely important to increase the sense of inclusion of these children and their families and the feeling goes a long way for the child. All children want to communicate how they are doing and what it would be nice to do outside. "

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. Feasible within the given timetable and budget.

Description of the proposal:
Schoolchildren play football almost every breaktime in the Epoo school yard. It would be nice to have a small area of artificial turf in the yard so that the sand, especially in the spring, does not generate so much dust. The area would be used by the school during the daytime and available to the public during evenings and weekends.

Reasons for the decision:
Meets the criteria and will be voted on.

Description of the proposal:
Special groups (adults with developmental disabilities) would have low-threshold access to dancing, theatre, visual arts and music in a supervised setting. Can the City arrange workshops with private sector operators, for instance? Special groups have major challenges in participating in leisure time activities within the framework of assistant resources, for instance. The disco for people with developmental disabilities in 2024 is a great idea. Could the event be a whole day with workshops, for example?

Reasons for the decision:
Meets the criteria.

Description of the proposal:
Finnish society is ageing and, as a result, so is Porvoo. As people age, not everyone is able to move outside their own neighbourhood. Many people would like to sit down on a park bench to enjoy the surrounding nature and meet the residents of their own area. Four park benches will be set up in appropriate locations in Hornhattula.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. The cost estimate only includes the bicycle racks.

Description of the proposal:
The situation of the bicycle racks in front of all the Kokonniemi halls is substandard, racks that make it possible to lock the bicycle to them need to installed in front of each hall.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. Five sessions will be carried out as a pilot in the Tolkkinen area as a purchased service.

Description of the proposal:
Outdoor parkour for different age groups. Arranged a couple of times outside to see if there is enough interest to continue. Affordable and fun.

Reasons for the decision:
Can be arranged on a suitable date.

Description of the proposal:
Few people have seen the City Hall's magnificent council chamber and the Segerstråle painting found in the City Hall. All residents of the city might be interested in this. There could be councillors present to guide the public and coffee with buns available.

Reasons for the decision:
A spectator stand on the edge of the baseball field and a portable toilet, if possible

Description of the proposal:
A spectator stand on the edge of the baseball field and a portable toilet, if possible

Reasons for the decision:
Bidets for all toilets and wet areas of the public swimming pool.

Description of the proposal:
When wet, a bidet is more effective than toilet paper that breaks in your hands.

Reasons for the decision:
A clock on the wall of the Aurora Hall (behind the building), to the side of the ski/jogging track. When skiing/jogging, you could see the clock without having to dig your phone out of your pocket, which is especially difficult when you are skiing because you are holding poles in your hands.

Reasons for the decision:
Suggestion meets the criteria.

Description of the proposal:
It would be nice if the memorial stone of the founder of Ruskis were maintained and there were a bench with a cupholder in the armrest next to the memorial stone.

Reasons for the decision:
Meets the criteria.

Description of the proposal:
I propose covered bus stops that provide protection against rain and wind in the region of our municipality with the aim of protecting people from, for example, freezing. The target group is all ages. Two to four covers could be acquired with the budget.

Reasons for the decision:
An extensive bus connection serving tourists and the city’s residents that is not comparable to public transportation can be arranged during the summer months.

Description of the proposal:
I do not live in Porvoo anymore, but I thought a Rinkeli-style hop on–hop off bus operating outside the city centre of Porvoo would be nice. Porvoo is surrounded by manors, natural sites, domestic animal farms and so on, which cannot currently be enjoyed by Porvoo’s residents and tourists without a car. A long-distance Rinkeli bus route would benefit local operators, the City and tourists alike. The target group would therefore be both the residents of the city and domestic and foreign tourists.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. An outdoor gym in Joonaanmäki. The outdoor gym on Pihlajatie can be renewed.

Description of the proposal:
A proper outdoor gym in Joonaanmäki. The current equipment is completely unnecessary.

Reasons for the decision:
Falls within the jurisdiction of the City. Alongside the Linnanmäki throwing area.

Description of the proposal:
Outdoor gym equipment to improve the physical condition of joggers. As COVID-19 and other illnesses spread more indoors, outdoor physical activity was a good way to promote health. It is harder for older people to go to a gym. The outdoor gym equipment could be positioned next to a sports/playground, where parents could exercise while their children play. For example, in the northern part of Porvoo at the Järböle playground, the Linnanmäki throwing area and other playgrounds.

Reasons for the decision:
It is possible to put on a series of concerts with different performers, but it requires resources for coordination and engineering, including the audio, stage and stands, as well as marketing. Nor can it be assumed that performers will be available free of charge if invited to attend. The event requires permits, a safety plan and marketing that increases the cost estimate.

Description of the proposal:
There could be a series of concerts every Sunday in June at the Event Park where any musician from Porvoo from the music institute or Pensselitehdas, for example, could perform. The costs would include minor repairs and electricity. The events would be free to the public. There could also be food trucks. Low-threshold events for the performers as well as the audience. Not every event needs to feature Avanti.

Reasons for the decision:
The ideas for dance events open to all and organised in public premises will be combined.

Description of the proposal:
Dance events are held five to six times primarily in locations where they reach both residents of Porvoo and tourists. The dance events may also be part of another activity. Local dance bands are primarily hired as orchestras. The costs include orchestra fees, sound engineering, the stage, security, first aid preparedness, permits, cleaning, marketing and personnel wages. Additional costs may arise depending on the location of the event, including venue hire, security-related structures and the portable toilet rental fees.

Reasons for the decision:
Increasing funding for tourism marketing is at the heart of the proposal. For example, increased television advertising is expensive.

Description of the proposal:
IMPROVED TOURISM VISIBILITY in the media, along the motorway, in connection with events (Helpit), extending the opening hours of the old town's shops on weekends (summer jobs?), reviving the market (all year round glass dome/low-hanging glass cylinder for traders and pedestrian access between the lanes on Piispankatu and Rauhankatu. The Tourism Division should hand out Porvoo caps and reflector tapes.
